Den mångspråkiga lånecentralen ger service till Sveriges bibliotek och är ett statligt finansierat uppdrag vid Stockholms stadsbibliotek. Uppdraget syftar till att stödja den mångspråkiga medieförsörjningen med medier och kompetens.
Uppdrag
- Kompletterande medieförsörjning av mångspråkig media, i enlighet med aktuell medieförsörjningsplan för MLC.
- Katalogiserings- och förvärvsstöd för mångspråkiga medier, samt efter behov* annat stöd inom mångspråkig medieförsörjning.
*I uppdraget ingår att MLC löpande gör behovsanalyser för mångspråkig medieförsörjning hos de kommunala biblioteken. Dialog ska också föras med KB.

Our Mission:
Enriching Sweden's Libraries with Multilingual Media
The Multilingual Loan Center (MLC) is a state-funded initiative headquartered at the Stockholm City Library. MLC aims to support the multilingual media needs of public libraries throughout Sweden.
- Provide complementary media supply of multilingual media, in accordance with the current media supply plan for MLC.
Offer cataloging and acquisition support for multilingual media, as well as other support for multilingual media supply as needed.
Our Collection:
We offer a vast collection of approximately 130,000 titles in over 100 languages, Excluding:
- Swedish and Swedish minority languages: Finnish, Yiddish, Meänkieli, Romani, Sami (all varieties).
- Other Nordic languages: Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Faroese.
- Common foreign languages: English, German, French
Collection Exclusions:
While we offer a wide range of materials, our collection does not include:
- E-media
- Educational materials
- Periodicals (magazines and journals)
- Language courses
- Films
Accessing the MLC Collection:
The MLC collection is not directly accessible to the public. However, you can access our extensive resources through your local public library. Please contact your local library for information on how to borrow materials from the MLC collection.
Are you a private person and have a Stockholms Stadsbibliotek/SSB library card?
Then you can browse our collection and make a reservation of the titles/materials you want online, and pick them up at your nearest library of choice. Please note we are not open to the public, therefore you cannot pick them up directly from us.
